This year, the Northwestern Pennsylvania Duck Hunters Association took the initiative to organize an additional cleanup at Presque Isle State Park ahead of the annual park-wide event. With a solar eclipse set to bring many first-time visitors to the park, we wanted to ensure that Presque Isle looked its very best. Our duck hunting season had just ended, and we saw this as a perfect opportunity to give back to the park.
Volunteers from all walks of life came together for the cleanup. We had hunters, non-hunters, high school students, and various community groups working side by side to make a difference. Teams scoured both the beach and bayside, collecting litter that had either been left behind or washed ashore.
We are incredibly proud to have played a role in preserving this precious natural resource. Presque Isle State Park is not only a vital habitat for wildlife but also a beloved destination for both locals and visitors. It was a privilege to help prepare it for the influx of eclipse-watchers, and we look forward to continuing our conservation efforts in the future.
